Situated 25 kilometres to the North-West of Angers and one hour from the Nantes-Atlantique airport, the Haras du Grand Courgeon extends over about 100 hectares of pasture land. The stud is home not only to broodmares and stallions, but also to horses whose owners prefer them to be at stud the whole year round or maybe just for the breeding season, as well as horses convalescing, or horses that simply need to recharge their batteries after a long season of racing.
Residents and visitors enjoy modern and purpose-built installations that are used for all aspects from the breeding process and the conception of a foal to its departure to a training yard.
For some years now, an “extension” under the name of La Rifferie, has been in operation, focusing in particular on Umm Qarn bred horses.
The Haras du Grand Courgeon stallion station has a range of stallions that stand at the stud all year round, as well as some temporary stallions who just come in for the breeding season.
