On Friday, 24 of February, during the weekend of HH The Emir’s Sword Festival, Farooq by Nizam ex Sarahmina won the Gulf Cup, by 1,5 lengths. This one mile event is reserved to purebred Arabian horses born and bred in a Persian Gulf country. Farooq totalizes 2 wins and 2 second places for 4 starts during the 2016/2017 season. In December, he was second of the Qatar Derby Trial and won the Qatar Derby for local purebred Arabian horses.
Born in 2013 at Umm Qarn, he is trained by Alban de Mieulle. Jockey Gaëtan Faucon led him to both wins of the season.
