In 2021, Group 1 winner Mekhtaal, a son of leading French sire Sea The Stars and Aiglonne, will join the stallion roster at the Grand Courgeon Stud. A tough and solid individual, he lifted the Group 2 Prix Hocquart by six lengths as a three-year-old and the following season he won the Group 1 Prix d’Ispahan, beating Robin of Navan, Usherette, Dicton and Zarak. In his five-year-old season, he travelled to Canada where he was the runner-up in the Group 1 Northern Dancer Turf Stakes at Woodbine and the Group 2 Nijinsky Stakes.
He will be joining stallions Style Vendome by Anabaa out of Place Vendome, who has sired four stakes winners, including Group 1 winner Lily’s Candle, and Joshua Tree, a son of Montjeu and Madeira Mist, who has returned to the Lion d’Angers following a season in Ireland and whose off-spring is successful on the flat, as well as over jumps.
