Winners bred at the Grand Courgeon Stud

A 1,2,3 at Doha for Grand Courgeon Stud products

On 24 March, three Purebred Arabians bred by the Grand Courgeon Stud were first over the line in a 1750m handicap at Doha. The Alban de Mieulle trained Bin Al Tair by Al Tair out of Alyzea (Munjiz), who runs in the colours of Umm Qarn and was ridden by Soufiane Saadi, was first past the post, followed by Bin General by General out of Noorah (Djelfor), who is owned by Saoud Abdulla N S Al Naemi and Meelad by Azadi out of Al Dahma (Amer), who is owned by Nayef Batal Al-Otibi.


Second victory of the season for four-year-old Abu Thaylah

Bred by the Grand Courgeon Stud for the SCEA of the Haras de Victot, Abu Thaylah by General out of Al Basheq (Dormane) recorded his second success of the season when he lifted the 1700m Purebred Arabian Novice Plate on 23 March at Doha. Trained by Alban de Mieulle, he runs in the colours of Umm Qarn and was partnered by Soudiane Saadi.


A winner over fences

Following his debut on the flat as a three-year-old, Santo Domingo by Joshua Tree out of Aroma Bella (King’s Best) switched disciplines and recorded his first victory over hurdles the following season. This year, on 12th of March, he won his first race over fences when he won a 3700 m chase at Auteuil. Bred by the Grand Courgeon Stud, the five-year-old gelding is owned by Jean-Marie Callier, the Patrick Joubert Stables, Snig Elevage, Véronique Devaux and Sylvain Dehez who is also his trainer. He was ridden by Gabin Meunier.


Maruf wins in Doha

On 17 March, Maruf, the six-year-old son of Tabarak and Noorah (Djelfor) lifted a 2000m handicap. Bred by the Grand Courgeon Stud for the SCEA of the Haras de Victot, Maruf carries the colours of Umm Qarn. He is trained by Alban de Mieulle and was ridden by Soufiane Saadi on this first victory of the season.


Fourth victory in Doha for Queenshala

The five-year-old mare Queenshala is enjoying Doha where on 16th of March, she added a fourth victory to her name. Bred by the Grand Courgeon Stud for the SCEA of the Haras de Victot, the daughter of Al Mamun Monlau and Al Ramtha (Amer) who is trained by Alban de Mieulle and was ridden by Soufiane Saadi, lifted a 1900 m conditions race for her owner Umm Qarn.

Second consecutive victory for Faris Al Arab

Following his victory at the end of February in Casablanca, Faris Al Arab by Majd Al Arab out of Voda’l Fauquey (Munjiz) added another success to his name when the won the 1400m Prix Ansata Haji Jamil at the Khemisset racecourse. Bred by the Grand Courgeon Stud for HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani, he is owned in partnership by Abederrahmane Laraichi and Abdelhaq Lazra, who is also his trainer. As always, he was partnered by Zouhair Madihi.

Joshua Tree enjoys a fabulous weekend in Europe

Joshua Tree enjoyed a great weekend with his progeny when the Craig Nichol partnered Limerick Leader out of Out Law d’Oc (Rahotep) lifted the 2m Terry Frame Joiners and Galziers Novices’ Hurdle at Kelso in Scotland on Saturday, followed by victories of Instant Decisif out of Vamp de Mirande (Goldneyev) and Hawax out of Urika (Nirdor) in France on Sunday. Ridden by Vincent Bernard, Instant Decisif won the 4100 m Prix des Veneurs in Blain (close to Nantes) by five lengths from Tresor de Chiron out of Perle Deux Mille (French Glory). In Brittany, Hawax, partnered by Quentin Defontaine, lifted the Prix de Plouescat, a 3900 m chase from Hystrion out of Calypso du Roy (Al Namix).
